Masterclass: Getting Published with Vanessa O’Loughlin
Always on the look–out for new talent, Vanessa will discuss exactly what the industry is looking for at the moment, what's hot and what's not, as well as explaining the role of an agent and how best to submit your work. Find out who to approach, how to approach them and the most commonly made mistakes that will help you avoid rejection. When do you know that your book is ready to submit and how can you increase your chances of success? Vanessa has her finger on the pulse of the book business and works across all genre to place authors. She will start by finding out about you and what you need to know — every workshop she gives is tailored to the needs of the participants.
Vanessa Fox O'Loughlin is the founder of The Inkwell Group publishing consultancy and the national writing resources website Writing.ie, an online magazine for writers. Chair of Irish PEN, she is Ireland's leading literary scout and works closely with UK and Irish agents and publishers. She has assisted many bestselling and award–winning authors to publication. Vanessa writes crime as bestselling author Sam Blake and is represented herself by Simon Trewin of WME (whom she originally met at the Mountains to Sea festival).
