Music Capital
Altan
The world-renowned Altan is coming to Pavilion Theatre for one night only, touring their signature foot-tapping jigs and ancient ballads inspired by the traditions and folklore of Donegal.
Boasting audiences that have included Mary McAleese, Michael D. Higgins and Bill Clinton, as well as collaborators including Eddi Reader and Dolly Parton, Altan have been moving audiences from Singapore to Seattle and beyond across five decades of performing.
Inspired by the musical traditions in Donegal, band founder Mairéid Ní Mhaoinaigh and her late husband Frankie Kennedy set out to make music that would lift people’s spirits when they are down. This ethos to alleviate the hardships of the day has continued in the band’s songwriting and performance, promising an intimate, moving and joyful night for everyone in attendance.
