Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
A Stage Reading
Small Things Like These, the Booker Prize nominated novel by Claire Keegan, will be brought from the page to life in this stage reading, directed by Ben Barnes and accompanied by original music by Eleanor McAvoy (composer of Only a Woman's Heart).
The story is set in 1985, in an Irish town. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, Bill Furlong, a coal and timber merchant, faces his busiest season. As he does the rounds, he feels the past rising up to meet him- and encounters the complicit silences of a people controlled by the Church.
An unforgettable story of hope, quiet heroism and tenderness from the author of Foster.
