The 12th Man

(Den 12. mann)

Norway, 1943. When a failed anti-Nazi sabotage mission leaves his eleven comrades dead, Norwegian resistance fighter Jan Baalsrud (Thomas Gullestad) finds himself on the run from the Gestapo led by Kurt Stage (a German-speaking Jonathan Rhys Meyers). Based on actual events Jan’s journey through the snowbound Arctic takes him through unforgiving, frozen wilderness and forces him to take extreme action in order to survive.

As well as the natural extemes and the adreline rush of the Nazi persuit The 12th Man also encounters the kindness and resolve of ordinary people who risk everything to help him. This balanced against the unforgiving landscape and the miracle of his survival, elevate his journey to a symbol of enduring hope.
