The Writing Life

with Margaret Drabble and Michael Holroyd, chaired by Niall MacMonagle

Dame Margaret Drabble is the author of 18 novels including A Summer Bird-Cage, The Millstone, The Red Queen, and the highly-acclaimed The Pure Gold Baby.
She has also written biographies, screenplays and was the editor of The Oxford Companion to English Literature.  Joining her for this event will be her husband, widely acclaimed biographer Michael Holroyd, in a wide ranging discussion of their lives in a very distinctly literary household, their writings and the question of what constitutes a good ending.
Death and how we understand it if we have lived well, preoccupies Drabble in her most recent novel, the enthralling The Dark Flood Rises.

Niall MacMonagle is a teacher and critic who broadcasts frequently on RTÉ Radio 1. He has edited several poetry anthologies.
