From Hilde, With Love
(In Liebe, Eure Hilde)
Berlin, 1942. Hilde (Liv Lisa Fries) and Hans (Johannes Hegemann), both German resistance fighters with the Red Orchestra anti-fascist group, fall madly in love. They marry and Hilde becomes pregnant. But as the birth of her son approaches, they are arrested and imprisoned by the Gestapo. Now in a desperate situation, Hilde develops a quiet inspirational strength. However, as she faces only having a few months with her newborn son, Hilde’s resilience is tested to its limits.
Based on the stirring true story of Hilde and Hans Coppi, both executed in Berlin-Plötzensee prison, Andreas Dresen's film is a polished biopic employing a non-linear narrative to craft a detailed and emotionally resonant film anchored by a powerhouse performance from Fries.
