The Mastermind

Kelly Reichardt’s (First Cow) latest offers a quirky spin on the heist genre.

What begins as a humorous, smallscale museum robbery becomes a reflective, bittersweet portrait of 1970s America and hapless thief J.B. (Josh O’Connor, The Crown, La Chimera). After pulling off the art heist, J.B.’s lack of planning unravels everything, and when authorities close in, he panics, abandons his family, and flees across state lines.
