The Phoenician Scheme
Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel) returns with his latest cinematic confectionery - here tackling the espionage thriller with wit, visual invention and some surprising emotional stakes.
After surviving an assassination attempt, businessman Zsa-Zsa Korda (Benicio del Toro) realises he can’t outrun his enemies forever. He attempts to mend his relationship with his estranged daughter - nun-in-training Liesl (Mia Threapleton). Zsa-Zsa drags a reluctant Liesl along on a border-hopping mission to persuade a ragtag group of investors - a mix of friends, family and enemies - to put their money in one big, risky scheme that will either make or break Zsa-Zsa’s business empire.
With a star-filled ensemble cast led by a delightfully wry del Toro, the film also features Mia Threapleton in her first leading role.
