Pavilion Theatre presents a Turning Pirate production

Ye Vagabonds

Brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn grew up playing music together around their hometown of Carlow. After moving to Dublin in 2012, they quickly became a staple of the live music and session scene in Ireland, playing their own original songs as well as folk songs from Ireland, Scotland, England and America. They weave rich harmonies and timeless stories into songs that feel both traditional and new.

A chance meeting with Glen Hansard at Electric Picnic in 2015 led to a European tour support slot and their debut EP Rose & Briar. They went on to tour extensively, open for acts like Villagers, Lisa Hannigan and Roy Harper, and sell out shows across Europe. Their acclaimed self-titled debut album arrived in 2017, followed by The Hare’s Lament (2019), which won multiple BBC and RTÉ Folk Awards. A 2020 EP, I’m A Rover / The Bothy Boys, further cemented their status as Ireland’s most awarded folk group.

Their latest album, Nine Waves (2025), recorded at Hellfire Studios with producer John ‘Spud’ Murphy, features collaborations with members of Crash Ensemble, Cormac Begley and Alain McFadden.
