The Origin of Evil

(L'origine du mal)

Stéphane (Laure CalamyFull Time, Call My Agent!) is a woman in her forties whose financially precarious situation pushes her to attempt to reconnect with her father, Serge (Jacque Weber, Cyrano de Bergerac), who abandoned her years previously. Having made contact, she discovers he is now an incredibly wealthy man. But he is despised by his new family, who scheme to declare him incompetent so they can steal his fortune…

To impress them, Stéphane pretends she is an entrepreneur. But her past starts to catch up with her, and she begins to realise Serge is he is not the genial patriarch she thought he was. Is anyone in this family telling the truth? With delectable comic moments and tour-de-force performances from the ensemble cast, this is a thoroughly enjoyable thriller.
