Our Patron Donation Fund & Patron Donation Award
Pavilion Theatre's Patron Donation Fund is an initiative that we introduced via our online booking system in 2012. Patrons have the opportunity to make an optional donation while making a purchase. These donations fund our annual Patron Donation Award for the presentation of ambitious productions, and have also been allocated towards creative projects, artist development and the creation of new work at Pavilion Theatre. Our sincere thanks to all who have chosen to donate.

Pavilion Patron Donation Award
First launched in 2015, Pavilion Patron Donation Award is a performance-based award to co-commission and co-produce ambitious main stage works by established artists and organisations. The award is for both new work and revivals. We welcome unique offerings, collaborations and, ultimately, great art to engage with a wide audience. This could also include festival proposals, interdisciplinary projects or artists moving into different artforms.
In 2025, there were 10 awardees, working across theatre, music and dance in all four provinces. Made possible by the generous contributions of Pavilion Theatre’s loyal patrons, €140,000 in total was allocated to support these projects. Selected from a highly competitive pool of nearly 60 applications, these artists represent outstanding art that will engage widely with audiences. We look forward to supporting them as they bring their work to life.

Other projects that have been enabled by the Patron Donations include:
Gallery Space Award: In 2019 and 2020, this award enabled dozens of artists to work on projects in a dedicated space at the heart of Dún Laoghaire.
Theatre Writing and Directing Mentorship Programme 2014/15: Pavilion in association with Fishamble: The New Play Company. A year-long mentoring programme for the professional development of playwrights and theatre directors with 17 participants in the Playwriting Group and 14 participants in the Director Group.
History of the Pavilion: A permanent exhibit, by writer and designer Kate Heffernan in 2016.
One One One: Presented by Dublin Dance Festival 2016, performed by Ioannis Mandafounis and Aoife McAtamney.
Bailed Out: Fishamble: The New Play Company and Pavilion Theatre commissioned Colin Murphy to write a new play Bailed Out! which was performed in Pavilion Theatre as part of Dublin Theatre Festival 2015.
Monkeyshine: Creates theatre experiences for children of all ages and their families and Pavilion Theatre are proud to be co-commissioners of Little Light which was performed in December 2015.
