We’re very happy to share some big news from Pavilion Theatre: two major upgrades to our venue are now complete. First, our state-of-the-art new sound system from L-Acoustics has taken the sonic immersion and clarity of our live events and cinema screenings to a different level. And we have also made a significant investment in a new customer lift which makes Pavilion Theatre more accessible than ever, improving on our previous lift in numerous ways.

NEW SOUND SYSTEM

Following a lengthy consultation process, Dublin-based audiovisual experts AudioTek were brought in to help carry out a complete replacement of the sound system in our auditorium. AudioTek produced the short documentary above, which we highly recommend watching for a behind-the-scenes look at the work that has been carried out.

Given Pavilion Theatre’s dynamic programme - encompassing theatre, music, comedy, literary events, dance and more, plus being one of Dublin’s busiest cinemas – a bespoke solution that could adapt to any scenario was needed. Ultimately, we needed a system that could deliver consistently clear and immersive sound to every part of the auditorium, no matter then performance type.

Ultimately, L-Acoustics, an industry-leading manufacturer trusted by venues and festivals around the world, was selected as the supplier for our new sound system. Our Technical Director Ronan Fingleton and AudioTek drew up schematics to help L-Acoustics create a “sound map” of our auditorium, pinpointing exactly where each speaker needed to be place in order to achieve the auditorium-wide coverage we were looking for.

The final piece of the puzzle was the actual installation of the system, which took place in the latter half of 2023, and it is now fully operational. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our technical team, the teams from AudioTek and L-Acoustics, and the belief of our board, Pavilion Theatre is now one of the best-sounding venues in Ireland and will remain so for many years to come.

NEW LIFT

In late 2023 and early 2024, patrons will have noticed major construction work taking place in our foyer. After years of planning and preparation, a brand new customer lift was installed which makes the most of the space available and improves our building’s accessibility in a user-friendly manner.

Firstly, due to its dimensions, the new lift can accommodate a broader range of users. This feature, coupled with fully automated doors, means lift users who previously would have required assistance can now make their journey unaided.

A two-way communication system with our Box Office ensures that users can travel with the reassurance that they are a simple button-press away from speaking with a member of staff should they need to. Travel time has also decreased, meaning users can get to the auditorium or head home after a performance with minimal delay.

We believe will meaningfully enhance the visitor experience at Pavilion Theatre for many of our patrons. Please watch the video above for additional information and operational instructions.
