The Dublin Story Slam is an open mic competitive storytelling night hosted monthly by comedians Sharon Mannion and Colm O’Regan which is all about celebrating the everyday experiences that come to shape who we are, as well as those extraordinary moments that have defined us.

This month we’re looking for a time you were shocked, stunned or just downright flabbergasted by what life threw at you. From surprise parties to surprise gifts, surprise results to surprise encounters that just made your day, week or even your year! Or perhaps that surprise wasn’t so welcome. From the day a loved one dropped a bombshell, to being shell shocked at how a situation turned out.  Stories of finally getting to truth, things not turning out how you expected or making a discovery that changed everything. This month why not surprise family friends and even yourself and tell a story with the Dublin Story Slam.

Over the past seven years nearly a thousand storytellers have taken to the stage to share true personal stories inspired by different themes – for many, it’s their first time ever speaking publicly – and thousands have attended sold out events or listened to the Dublin Story Slam Podcast.

From stories of love and danger to stories about family, relationships, conflict and resolutions, any kind of story is welcome as long as it’s true and personal.
