Major Cinema Upgrades & Our Autumn/Winter Brochure Has Landed
Monday Night Cinema is Back!
Today, after a seven-week break, we are thrilled to welcome back our Monday Night Cinema goers as our Autumn/Winter 2026 season officially gets underway, kicking off with Sir Ian McKellen in the art heist drama The Christophers. As we welcome audiences back through our doors, you may be wondering what we were up to over the summer. Over the years, we’ve heard plenty of customers ask us on the phone, “How is your break going?” or “Hope you’re enjoying the time off!” And of course, “Isn’t it lovely to get such a long rest in August?”
Well, you would think so! From the outside, it might appear that we’re all relaxing on a beach somewhere, enjoying a well-earned summer break. But the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Read on to find out what we have been up to:
So, What Have We Been Doing, You Ask?
August is actually one of the busiest and most important months of the year behind the scenes at Pavilion Theatre. With the auditorium closed to the public, it gives us a rare opportunity to carry out essential works, upgrades and improvements to make the theatre even better for our audiences and artists. And this year may have been one of our most ambitious Augusts yet - perhaps the most significant programme of improvements in recent memory with a complete upgrade of our cinema system.
Our State of The Art Cinema System Upgrade
This August, we have only been busy upgrading our cinema technology to bring you a bigger, better and even more immersive experience, combining a stunning new Christie 4K RGB laser projector, and a new premium nine-metre projection screen alongside our state-of-the-art Dolby Cinema sound processor for brighter, sharper images with crystal-clear, powerful sound that puts you right in the heart of the action. See below our technichal team in action installing the upgrades. They worked around the clock for most of July and August to get this huge upgrade installed, and we applaud them for their fantastic efforts.

Aaand if all this goodness wasn’t enough to get you excited about coming back through our doors, our brand-new Autumn/Winter 2026 season brochure has also landed. Stuffed with a plethora of incredible festivals & events, just in time for you to fill your evenings with incredible experiences and make the most of the shorter autumn evenings by cosying up with the best in theatre, music, comedy, opera, literary and family events.
The season includes REFUGE by Deirdre Kinahan as part of Dublin Theatre Festival, which you’ll recognise as this season’s cover image. Then, also kicking off this week alongside the return of Monday Night Cinema, we are thrilled to welcome back Dún Laoghaire Folk Festival.
Mid-month, we have a fantastic Culture Night line-up, while Opera Collective Ireland brings Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park to the stage. Taking us into October, our contemporary classical WAVESeries welcomes the genre-bending masked performer Lambert, and we are so excited to bring you the uplifting and heartbreaking NUALA by Hugo Hamilton.
