Destroyer (solo)

& special guest Art Lorigan
as part of Dún Laoghaire Folk Festival 2026

This is a rare solo performance from Destroyer’s Dan Bejar from Vancouver, British Columbia. Dan Bejar started Destroyer as a solo home-recording project in the early to mid-nineties. Exploring and overturning genres such as glam, MIDI, yacht rock, and even underground Spanish independent artists, Bejar was proclaimed “Rock’s Exiled King” by The Fader.

His is a body of work that consistently flouts convention in favour of musical leaps of faith, statements of purpose cloaked in subterfuge, and the joyous refrain of an optimist’s heart cloaked in cynicism. Destroyer’s 14th album Dan’s Boogie was released in 2025 was nominated for the Polaris Prize and described by Pitchfork as “morning-after music par excellence,” proclaiming “Dan Bejar is a master of apocalyptic absurdity.”

Special guest Art Lorigan was born in Cork and traversed genre after genre as a renowned drummer through a long career that including bands such as Princes Street, Sleepy Hollow and Soon. Settled in Dún Laoghaire for many years Art has quietly reinvented himself has a home-recording artist of the most idiosyncratic song-stories, which he very occasionally performs in public.
