Let’s have a closer look at what we’ve got tucked under our tree this December…

What the Ladybird Heard (Thu 21 Dec – Sun 7 Jan)

The perfect family show for the Christmas season...

Direct from London's West End, the much-loved, smash-hit, live production of What the Ladybird Heard (Thu 21 Dec – Sun 7 Jan) is coming to Pavilion Theatre this Christmas!  Based on the beloved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Lyida Monks, it's a great-value family outing for the festive season - right here in the heart of Dún Laoghaire.

Kids age 3 and over will absolutely adore this all-singing production, featuring live music and puppetry with plenty of laughs and audience participation!

A Night Before Christmas (Sun 17 Dec)

What’s the Christmassiest thing you can think of? For us, it’s a cosy evening of traditional storytelling from some of Ireland’s finest performers with music from singer Lisa Lambe and harpist Cormac De Barra to set the scene! Get swept away by Owen Roe, Michele Forbes, Cathy Belton and Pheilim Drew in this all-star, old-school approach to Christmas entertainment.

Music

Celebrating their 10th anniversary as an ensemble, the bewilderingly talentend Yurodny Ensemble (Wed 13 Dec) make their Pavilion Theatre debut this month. Their repertoire is inspired by traditional music from around the world, with a generous helping of jazz added to the mix. With treasured musicians like Nick Roth, Kate Ellis, Cora Venus Lunny and Francesco Turrisi at the helm, this is sure to be an unforgettable evening.

Just a handful of tickets remain for Cara Dillon (Sat 16 Dec), multi award-winning singer with “the voice of an angel” (Belfast Telegraph). For her Christmas concert titled Upon a Winter’s Night, Cara and her band will be performing classic carols, celtic hymns and other festive favourites.

Christmas Movies

We absolutely love Christmas movies around here, and this year we’re showing all the very best ones on our huge screen!

First, we have The Muppet Christmas Carol (Sat 16 Dec, 11.45am & 2pm) with its fantastic songs, lovable characters and Michael Caine as the definitive Ebenezer Scrooge. Another more modern favourite, The Nightmare Before Christmas (Sun 17 Dec, 2pm) – Tim Burton’s gothic tale of a Pumpkin King who discovers the magic of Christmas.

Jumping back in time a few decades, It’s a Wonderful Life (Thu 21 Dec, 8pm) is an essential part of any festive film lineup, while White Christmas (Fri 22 Dec, 8pm) shows off Bing Crosby at his crooning, tap dancing best! Finally, Miracle on 34th Street (Sat 23 Dec, 8.30pm) tells the classic story of a Macy’s Santa Claus who claims to be the real thing.
